I don't think I've ever been so glad IN MY LIFE that the published version of a novel differed so much from the writer's original draft.
Timothea Rogers aka Number One is literally malinged every single time she appears on the page. And the one and only scene from her POV? Is her ruminating on how she was unfair for hating Jim Kirk for taking Pike's place and all her misplaced anger is solely because she failed and never told Pike how she loved him, and she's an empty, bitter sad wretch and all she has left in her entire life is working for Nogura.
IT SO TOTALLY SKEEVED ME, YOU GUYS. I FEEL DIRTY.
partly because I cannot believe I might be consciveably agreeing with Richard Arnold. gah.
I am so incredibly glad in every way imaginable that Timothea Rogers is not Number One, and that most of this incredibly hateful characterisation got dumped from the final published work. Because seriously... the hell?
